About me

Prior to training as a psychologist, I had a 10-year career in the performing arts, working mainly as a director but also as a writer, educator, and performer. As director I worked closely with artists, guiding processes of creative discovery. I am familiar with the challenges that face individuals working in creative fields and bring this sensitivity to my work as therapist.

Having completed four degrees (as well as embarking on a PhD, which I later abandoned), I am also familiar with the challenges faced by students and working students. This is part of what drives my interest in working with students at all levels.

As a psychologist, I have experience working in various settings, including private practice, correctional services, inpatient psychiatric settings, and a substance treatment unit.

Although I am currently residing in South Africa, I have had experience living in the United Kingdom, as well as the Netherlands and the United States. I am fluent in both English and Afrikaans.

Significant personal experiences that have shaped who I am and what I offer as therapist include growing up in a blended family; experiences of travel and cultural diversity from a young age; living with a family member with mental illness; personal experiences of anxiety and depression; as well as parenting my two children.
